CustomVue® LASIK
Outlook EyeCare in New Jersey offers CustomVue® LASIK giving our patients a quality of vision that exceeds the limitations of glasses, contacts, and traditional LASIK. This next generation procedure in laser vision correction achieves crisp, clear vision that is often better than 20/20, and allows more patients to qualify for the LASIK procedure.

A Better LASIK Procedure
LASIK involves making a flap in the cornea and reshaping its inner tissue. The use of IntraLASE® laser technology for flap creation makes CustomVue LASIK a 100% bladeless procedure. This improves safety, decreases negative side effects, and makes CustomVue LASIK an option for many individuals not previously eligible for LASIK.
New 'WaveScan' technology allows Dr. Joseph Shovlin, our LASIK specialist, to create a digital map of your eye that captures unique imperfections that would previously go undetected. This "fingerprint" of your eye provides 25 times more precision than standard measurements for corrective lenses, and often results in vision that exceeds 20/20.
Get Answers to Your Eye Questions… Now
Are you trying to understand what your eye-care exam will be like? Do you wish you knew more about your mom's macular degeneration? Now, with the Eyemaginations Player, you can get answers to those and other ophthalmology-related questions before your visit. Our short videos clearly explain topics ranging from corrective lenses to retinal conditions.
CustomVue LASIK is a very quick, outpatient procedure that usually requires only 1 to 2 days of recovery. On the day of surgery, you will receive anesthetic eye drops for your comfort. Our computer-guided lasers follow the precise measurements of the WaveScan map of your eye, made at your pre-op appointment. The IntraLASE laser cuts a thin flap near the surface of the cornea, which is lifted to access the corneal tissue. The excimer laser is then used to reshape the cornea to the exact specifications of the digital corneal map. This takes just minutes; the flap is then carefully replaced with no sutures necessary. Although final results may not be reached for 3 to 6 months, most patients see their vision improve to between 20/70 and 20/10 within 24 hours.
Our approach to vision correction allows us to provide you with excellent results that maximize your vision potential. In the vast majority of cases, CustomVue LASIK provides patients with a quality of vision that surpasses traditional New Jersey LASIK.
