About ReSTOR & TECNIS Multifocals

Most cataract patients are accustomed to relying on reading glasses or bifocals due to age-related presbyopia. In the past, replacement lenses could not correct the effects of presbyopia, due to the eye's diminished ability to focus at a range of distances. The ReSTOR IOL and TECNIS MF combine the strength of diffractive and refractive technologies to provide clear vision at a full range of distances. These IOLs provide patients with an enhanced image quality and clarity, and an increased independence from reading glasses or bifocals.

In a clinical study, approximately 80% of patients receiving the ReSTOR or TECNIS MF lenses reported complete freedom from corrective lenses for all activities. The vast majority of patients reported that they would choose the ReSTOR lens or TECNIS MF again if given the choice.

What to Expect

Despite the extremely high rate of satisfaction with ReSTOR IOLs or TECNIS MF, different patients will respond differently to this procedure. Most intraocular lenses and cataract surgery in New Jersey carry the same risk of complications or side effects. Our highly qualified cataract specialists at Outlook Eyecare will help you to determine if you are a good candidate for cataract surgery and the ReSTOR or TECNIS lens.

Cataract surgery is usually performed in one eye at a time, starting with the dominant eye. Since both eyes usually develop cataracts, your surgeon will usually wait 2 to 3 weeks before inserting the ReSTOR or TECNIS lens in the second eye.

The Next Step

If you have dreamed of seeing clearly without reading glasses or bifocals, the ReSTOR IOL or TECNIS MF may be a good option for your cataract surgery. We offer all of the best IOL options for the benefit of our patients, who visit us from Hamilton Township, Monroe Township, Princeton, and surrounding areas. We will help you choose the best lens for your lifestyle and vision needs. Not all patients are good candidates for these special lenses. We encourage you to schedule an appointment to see if you qualify.
